Embracing messy crafting

Hi & Happy Day! Stenciling is all the rage in card making techniques today. I’ve been obsessed with this neon or fluorescent texture paste from Vicki Boutin (link here). I found this paste at my local Joann store. I’ve been neon-pasting all the things. The texure is so light and airy it doesn’t even warp the card stock one bit. I made this card by cutting a re-usable stencil (from acetate) using the beautiful Altenew Mandala Die Set (link here). I then placed the stencil right onto my 80lb Neenah Environment Desert Storm card base and added all 6 colors of neon paste in rainbow order with a pallet knife. While I didn’t mind the messy edges here & there or the missed spots within the design, I did clean up the areas outside the mandala design with a sand eraser. I guess this is “halfway embracing messy” & not “all the way embracing” it. 🙂 My letting go of the need for ‘perfection’ is a work in progress but an important task nonetheless. As they say, life is too short. And, this is handmade afterall. Before celebrating my dad with this card, I added a 1/2″ sentiment strip – with neon paste ‘inked’ edges – coming in from the left in the bottom 3rd of the card. I’m loving this season of stencils we are in & this paste is mesmerizing. Fun!

Thanks for stopping by! Here’s to a most-amazing day!
