Hello! I hope you and yours are well.
We are in unprecedented and troubling times. In New Mexico, our Governor issued a “stay at home” order on Monday of this week. Today is Thursday. Yesterday, we received an emergency alert at 1:20pm MST instructing us to stay home and that non-essential businesses have to cease in-person operations.
This is our second week of uncertainty. The first week, last week, many of us felt stunned. It’s such a new & weird feeling in our world here — one definitely shared by so many around the world. My friend and I (neither of us ever curse) even started saying “Weird AF” to describe the eeriness during our pre-dawn daily walks. Chalk it up to the giddiness of being out before dawn. Gotta keep moving our bodies, though.
March 2020 happens to be a 30-day coloring challenge ~ please visit @kathyrac and her blog thedailymarker.com for details about this amazing challenge to take therapeutic minutes every day for yourself to color in any way you choose. I like to think of it as getting lost in color . . .
For many of us, this 30-day coloring challenge could not have come at a better time. Do you love to color? Combining coloring and cardmaking is a great way to go.
You get to be creative and express your creativity on a small canvas and end up with masterpieces — whether masterpieces of art or humor or just saying “Hi!” — that you can send to loved ones in your life or to others in the world in need of a paper hug.
Making cards can be as simple as finding a few free royalty-free or public domain images online and adding them to an 8-1/2 x 11 inch page of cardstock with some text and printing & cutting — or, making cards can include hand-stamping, die cutting, layering, interactive parts, lights, and/or so much more. It’s all about what YOU like.
For this month of coloring, I need a large amount of Thank You cards for a local non-profit food pantry. I aimed to end up with at least 30 cards in 30 days and have them all fit into my favorite one-layer and clean and simple card categories.
Here is what I posted on Instagram (@papernummies) so far this month:
Thank you SO much for stopping by! May you & all in your world stay well, in all ways.
